Raven Sumner

Raven has been dancing for 12 years. She began her dance career in Egyptian/Turkish Cabaret. She has trained extensively in various fusion forms of belly dance. In 1999 she fell in love with FatChanceBellyDance and the American Tribal Style of Belly dance. Particularly appealing about the ATS format for Raven was the group dynamics, beautiful costuming and improvisational style.

Raven has taken numerous workshops with Carolena Nericcio and received her ATS General Skills Certification in August 2008. She earned her ATS Teacher Training Certification 1 and 2 from Carolena in February 2009. She is dedicated in maintaining the ATS format as created by Carolena and has earned Sister Studio status with the FatChanceBellyDance Studio.

Raven has adopted a philosophy of “living ATS”. Commitment, teamwork, knowing when to be a leader and when to be a follower, creativity, patience and sisterhood are all elements in ATS which she feels are applicable to her daily life.
